in the story sweet potato pie the people show compassion, wisdom and insight in many different ways. Charley for example is a character that shows immense compassin towards his young brothers (children) and espesssialy related to buddy.Charley shows these aspects to buddy by being a great incentive to him in being "somebody" which means to the poor people of the story, to be someone with education , coolege degree, wealthy , not working on the farms with your phisical strengh only like charley and his parents did.
Lil is the older sibling of the family (older than Charley) and that also took care of her younger brothers.The one who would feed them, play with them, show compassion , wisdom and insight to them by giving up a a school education so that she could help her parents and Charley by assuming the function of being the "mother" of her younger siblings. She would also punish them when done something wrong, so by these statements you can take the conclusion that Charley and Lil are only teenagers and already are very mature which shows their wisdom,compassion and insight towards their younger siblings that live in the poor community (farms).

I agree with all the points that nicholas brought up in the blog. I also think that he put allot of thought into the story. The blog also was very relative to the story "Sweet Potato Pie". For example how Lil and Charley had to help out the family by dropping out of school, as well as the compassion Charley showed for Buddy in keeping him on track.
Nicholas also brought up a good point in that Lil was more of a mother to her younger siblings than there real mother was. This is so because there parents were always working on the farm. She would feed them when they were hungry. She would also give them punishments for there wrong doings.
